HAK DAN AGAMA: ASRI SELAR KERAJAAN
Bekas mufti Perlis, Mohamad Asri Zainul Abidin menyifatkan kegilaan mendapatkan undi, terutama daripada golongan bukan-Islam menyebabkan kerajaan membuat keputusan berdasarkan sentimen.
Beliau berkata demikian sebagai mengulas keputusan kabinet mengenai isu anak di bawah umur yang kekal dengan agama asal ibu bapanya walaupun salah seorang daripada pasangan itu memeluk Islam.

By Shannon TeohLAMPETER (Wales), May 1 — The Cabinet's unilateral decision that children be raised in the faith of their parents while married even if one spouse later converts to Islam contradicts both Islam and fundamental human rights, according to the former mufti of Perlis, Mohamad Asri Zainul Abidin.
He said, however, that there should be no forced conversions and that both parents have a right to educate their children in their respective religions.
